This is a hard question to answer. I read alot. I think the most recent 'wow' book was a self help book on building personal credibilty. "The Personal Credibilty Factor: How to Get It, How to Keep It and How to Get It Back (if you've lost it)" by Sandra Allgeier. The book focused on the basics, yet the writer took the time to examine the mental excuses we all use to support our poor behavior. It was very enriching. I purchased a copy to use as a gift when the right person comes along whom I feel will benefit from it. I think it is a must read for everyone.

My first thought was "Brave New World," and then "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance."

Then, the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons (books: Hyperion, The Fall of Hyperion, Endymion, and The Rise of Endymion), which is in the sci-fi genre, but definitely a mind-blower at the end of the series.

Forgot that one. A true classic. I was one of the few that saw The Matrix and said, hey, this is based on a book I read a long time ago...

The one I'm reading now, 3/4 of the way through so far - Daemon by Daniel Suarez is kind of blowing my mind.

It really lives up to it's hype "does for web surfing what Jaws did for swimming in the ocean"

A Child Called It & The Lost Boy by David Peltzer. We heard him speak at the youth conference at MTSU 1 year & then bought his books. I LOVE this guy. Honestly. He blew us away. Even my mom. And there wasn't a dry eye in the house when he got done telling his story. If I had to recommend only 1 author for someone to read it would be him.
A Child Called It was so sad that it literally made me sick. I was throwing up in the bathroom after one certain part. It's so hard to believe it's based on the author's childhood. This book definitely blew me away, in a very sad way.

"Not without my daughter" was made into a movie years ago with Sally Field playing Betty Mahmoody, very good film.

I still gravitate more to 1984 than Brave New World.

"Same soul, many bodies", "Many lives, many masters" and "Only love is real" by Brian L. Weiss.
These books directed me to a spiritual path that I've been searching for for a very long time.
Then came Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle and other spiritual teachers, but it all started with Brian L. Weiss and I am forever grateful to him.
