I want to purchase Helter Skelter book but I can't seem to decide if I want to download it from iTunes and listen to it or buy it as an hard cover novel and sit down to read it. Which one do you prefer and why?

Mod cut: Quoted post deleted.

I haven't tried the audio book before and I'm just interested hearing hear others experiences about it

I prefer a hand held book, but that is my preference and may not be yours.

Audiobooks are great for the car. They certainly make commutes more pleasant, and can turn an all-day drive from sheer drudgery to fairly pleasant. More than once, I've sat in my driveway listening to the rest of a chapter before going into the house.

But otherwise, I prefer to read.

PS - If you want to read Helter Skelter, I highly recommend considering Jeff Guinn's biography The Life and Times of Charles Manson as well, or even instead. Though a bio, it really covers the trial almost as well as Bugliosi's book (about half the book are the murders and subsequent prosecution), and it was written with access to more information about Manson's life than any other work. It also delves into Manson's techniques for manipulating people in fascinating detail.

I like both. I use audiobooks for walking around and driving too and from work. I prefer to read if I am at home though.

That is entirely a personal choice. I don't really care for audiobooks as it feels like the reader gets between me and the text. I will listen to them when I am cooking or driving, but generally old favorite books that I have already read.

I am trying my first audio book now and I'm having problems with it.... I find it hard to make my mind concentrate on the dialogue. My brain wanders off and makes lists and what not.

I'm going to keep trying...it's the Incarnations and some poetic lines have jumped out at me, plus I like being able to hear a book while I clean house and stuff, so we will see.

I have tried the audio books and really don't care for them. I prefer a book, but then that is just a personal preference.
