Hi, I'm pretty much planning on a move to Bend. I've got an iPhone with AT&T. My coverage was pretty sucky on my last visit. I can switch phones and providers in January, when my 2 year hitch is up. I plan on moving to Android, just because I'm a Java programmer. So I'm kind of open to plans etc.

Can anyone give me an idea of what's working now, as well as what future-promises seem trustworthy? (Everyone promises 4G "soon" I think.)

As an aside, I was never much of an Apple fanboi, but I have enjoyed my old 3g iPhone. I liked the apps, and browsing "worked." Just recently though I was driving at night and tossed my phone in the empty cup-holder as I often do. It took me about 3 minutes to notice that the cup-holder wasn't empty, and had a nice cup of ice water. To quote the old commercial, "you're soaking in it." The phone said "unrecognized device." I turned it off, and per my nephew's advice, tried sucking all the water out of it (snake-bite style). The next day it was fine, and now I am a little bit of a fanboi.

I'm with AT&T and had great reception when I was in Bend a couple of weeks ago. I wonder what the difference was?

I have coverage through Verizon. One of my roommates uses AT&T (she has an Iphone) and it works completely normal here. No problem aside from when you go off the beaten path, but my Verizon phone even has trouble if we do that.......

I heard, before I got here anyway, that AT&T was lacking service in the area for some time. They recently (1-2 years or so) put up new towers and it seemed to fix the problem. That's what I read/heard anyway. I'm sure some of the long time residents can give you some more information to this.

It's good to hear that the AT&T coverage is there. I remember being on Brookswood Blvd, I thought fairly close in, and getting no signal. I guess that was about August '09
