I'm a teacher, the schools are not hiring unfortunately. I do have a forestry degree as well, but nothing has opened up that I'm aware of. Both fields are highly competitive in Bend. There have been numerous jobs at day care centers, but at this point I'm not desperate enough to settle for $9 an hour.

How is the city's outlook holding up?

I gather that cities who suffer things like a plant closing can lose their energy, and become something that is hard to recover from. Maybe this is true of lumber towns which didn't have the "recreation and retirement destination" option.

Don't know ... that's why I'm asking ...
