Even won a couple of games without Harden. I did not expect McHale to do this well coming out of Minnesota where had had very little success.
McHale should have been banned from league positions after his tenure in Minnesota and some of his stunts but yeah, he's doing fine in Houston for now.
Maybe in a few years if things aren't going well he can trade Harden to the celts for a 2nd rounder and a box of oreos. You know...a fair trade.....

Morey seems to run a tight ship with regards to his control of player negotiations - which is why Adleman is no longer here. Most of the players on the roster will contribute if put into the game. Morey's has done a good job.
I know playoff rotations tighten up to 7 or 8 players. If the Rockets make the playoffs - hopefully they will continue mixing a matching the lineups. They have a legit 13 people who can contribute in any game.
im not a morey fan myself. dude makes moves just to be making moves but never gets that goal hes always trying for. rockets look ok this year but they are far from a contender, and he will miss out on a big star to pair with harden again. harden fell in his lap, he over paid for lin, hell the best free agent signing of his career is asik whos playing way about his head defensively but has zero offensive game. the best pick he ever made was batum whom he traded for jeoy dorsey and donte green. he got sold on a single playoff series by trevor ariza and over paid him, i mean the list of so-so, questionable and just bad moves goes on and on. his "no extensions" policy alienated a lot of players, battier was not happy, brooks, several of the key players.
so much of houston is sold on this guy and he is not a good gm. hes made a pick or 2 that worked out, hes gotten lucky with parsons but all of his moving players around in hopes of landing that big name is just bad business. just look at his record, he came in in 2007. the team build by his predecessor made it to the playoffs 07-08 (moreys 1st year) and the 2nd round 08-09 (his 2nd) then he really started fooling with trades and stuff, and what have they done since? 42-40, 43-39, 34-32, and this year the only reason they are in is because the lakers and mavs where a HUGE letdown this season (43-34 so far). sure yao went down, and mcbaby was just that, a baby, but his trades and picks have NOT worked. he traded shane for thabet, howd that work, mcbaby for kevin martin who was a joke as a rocket. harden landed in his lap because the thunder contacted him. hows that robinson trade working out? they gave up a proven paterson giving 12/5 for a guy averaging 4/4. just silly move after silly move
Morey does take risks - I will agree. I am not as down on him as you though.
Harden opportunity landed in his lap - but at least he was ready both in personnel and financially to pull it off.
I think the reason he made the Patterson/Robinson trade was the potential upside for Robinson. I thought Patterson was playing the best he had been playing for the Rockets - so I agree with you there.
What also has helped is the use of the D-league to keep guys ready.
