You ever consider changing your name to Bob Ross? You paint with a pretty broad brush. Makes what you say a little bit meaningless.

I'm not talking about people in half the state, I'm talking about you. There's a difference.

Now you are speaking of someone you know nothing about. You've got more than one brush I guess, but still sling paint like someone trying to make something stick. Have you ever been wrong or do your eyes always see the world the way it really is? Just wondering. I'm one of those guys you called a free loader and want to get to know you a little better. By the way, the Maine Snowmobile Association came out against Ms Quimby yesterday, but yeah, they are freeloaders too.

Actually, she's right, but a little vocal about the recreational users of "someone else's land" as freeloaders. I about blew a gasket when I headed up the Stud Mill Road a few years ago and it was gated out back of Milford. The paper companies stopped the 99 year leases a long time ago. Where leased lots existed, and the landowner wanted out, you had the option of buying or walking away. Period. Pay the money in cash or get off their property. The leases were all cancelled. Godsoe Heirs pulled it on Schoodic Lake. We had a lease downeast since the '60's. The paper company changed that overnight to year-to-year. Nothing anyone could do. On commercial (sporting camp) leases, such as up to Haymock, the paper company had to agree to a 15 year lease (and ONLY in those circumstances) in order for the camp owner to obtain a leasehold mortgage and finance his operation.

There is a double standard when speaking of the "paper companies" and Quimby. She did very little different than they did. But somehow the paper companies (that created the Maine North Woods Association and charged up the yang for access) were some kind of saviors and Quimby is a hairy legged tree hugger. They all did almost exactly the same things with gates and leases, and us freeloaders got shut out. Now you are speaking of something you seem to know little about.
