I go to the Honda dealership to replace those sorts of parts. And they aren't all that expensive to buy.

What kind of car do you have?

For the most part, you'll find quality hardware at any of the big box stores ... including the higher grade bolts, if needed. Traditional auto parts stores will also have a good selection in "Dorman" or similar brand assortments, although they tend to be a bit pricier than the box stores.

If you have a specialty bolt or fastener needed, then the easiest way to get one will be at a dealership, or if you have the time ... at a wrecking yard that has your model car.

You may also find specialty fasteners at a local independent auto service shop that specializes in your brand of car.

For Honda, I'd go to https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/home.htm or Honda Parts at hondapartsnow.com: Honda Accessories, Honda Auto Parts . They'll have an exploded IPB (illustrative parts breakdown) for you to ID your part and order. You can get very miniscule parts from them without paying deler prices and I believe all their parts are actual Honda replacements, not aftermarket. Ther's got to be online sellers like them for many other makes of cars.

DO NOT buy bolts and nuts at a hardware store unless you are bolting 2X4's together. Hardware store bolts are too soft to use on metal. They are designed for wood, not metal...

good point alot of hardware like bolts for seats or seat belts have to DOT approved for saftey reasons and hardware stores don't tend to sell stuff like that

So here is a chart and other VERY important info on bolt and other fasteners that you NEED to know to keep the correct fasteners in your car or other projects.
