You nailed that one buddy!

I drive for a living and witness non-driving morons multiple times a day.

So, I'm going to stop buying a brand that has served me well for decades because of what idiots and scam artists say? Not a chance!

The sales reps at Toyota dealerships are also suggesting this conspiracy. I still don't understand why people are incapable of putting the car in neutral. If know people panic and don't think clearly in a crisis. But if you're prone to panicking under stressful conditions, should you even be driving a car in the first place?

Of course. They have to find a way to reassure potential customers that Toyotas are safe and that the stuff on the news is overblown. Like most areas of life, the truth tends to lie between the extremes. I'm sure there are quality problems at Toyota. But I also think there's pressure on the government to take advantage of this situation in order to help the domestic brands. What's funny though is that instead of helping The Big Three, it's actually helping Honda and Hyundai. People who buy Toyotas gave up on American brands a long time ago. If they're going to switch, they'll switch to other Asian brands. Hyundai could end up being the big winner in all this. They're newly redesigned Sonata could not have come out a better time.
