Yes and no.
The time to add them would be on purchase to include them on the loan.
Most add-ons can be bought cheaper later: rims and tires, radios, sunroofs.
The dealerships have good offers right now. You can find a new car with 0.0% loans that allow you to step up on the models. We bought two new trucks last year with costco. Their buyer program gave us 100,000 mile warranty and $2500 off invoice price.
You are better off getting it from the beginning. Dealers easily screw up these types of jobs and these things won't be covered by your original warranty. I agree with the previous poster you can most likely get them for next to nothing if you shop around in this economy.
What specifically were you looking to upgrade and on what car?
I just discovered this was possible. The Toyotta dealership told me I could upgrade to a leather interior at any time for $1,900. I had no idea that was possible. Amazing.

Yeah my friend got leather on her Scion tC from the dealer. Of course the dealer isn't doing the work. They are sending it out to a 3rd party for cheaper.

I ponder why didn't the dealer send them back to its factory for the upgrade or are most dealerships are just franchises and not company owned?
Looking for an affordable sport luxury coupe or sedan, but I don't know even though Mercedes Benz reliability that well. Even though,it has improved since the late 90'sand early 00's.
Maybe a 128i coupe or 135i coupe or a C300 sport sedan?

I can't answer most of your question because I don't know, but in regards to my friends Scion TC leather was not a factory option so the dealership offered to put in the leather for x amount of money. Of course my friend could have saved herself some money my bringing her car to a 3rd party herself.
I just purcahse BMW 530i Sedan and Im not happy I didn't get the full package I requested, I know the dealer won't let me exchange the car. Possible can I add upgrade the package to the car . I know my monthly payment will go up, Im ok with it paying the difference .
