A related note which seems to be relevant based on others observations here is the differences in the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade lighting and style this year. I like the new lighting configuration on the GMC version, think the Tahoe is a little odd in the configuration of the headlamps and LED's, and find the the tail end of the Escalade to be hideous.
LED lighting at the tail end of the vehicle is a tested and documented safety benefit. The LED and projector lamps are particularly bright and can be an issue at night, especially when in your rear-view mirror. Auto dimming mirrors do not compensate enough IMO for the increased intensity of the current light patterns and technologies. I miss my old flip up mirror.
Headlights have become excessively bright. There was no need for them to get so - no-ones ever had a problem with night headlights. All they've done is become a danger to car drivers driving in the opposing direction. Completely unnecessary.
As for indicator lights, or turn signals, they perform their job much better when they are orange. Its completely dumb to have the rear ones red.
OH, man. More than once I've felt I should have brought my sunglasses when driving at night with all the LED headlamps blaring down on me in my little peanut car, or lighting up my car's interior from behind.
Does a person really need to see down the road all the way into the next county?!?
It seems the designers creating the headlights and tail lights of new cars have been doing some LSD or worse. Some of these cars are lit up like a Christmas Tree driving down the damn road.
New Tahoes have the ugly bracket lights with the blinkers inside take the cake. So stupid looking
Started by Audi but other manufacturers have followed. They are actually technically superior to the old conventional lights but the automakers also use it to brand their vehicles. For example, Audi and BMW have distinctive lighting. An Lexus is beginning to incorporate that as well. Note the Nike like swoosh on the front end of some of their models.
