i recall when GM did it's downsizing program for the 1977 model year for it's full sized cars, those new cars were getting significantly better mpg's than their predecessors

was it true that by either 1978 or 1980 all cars had to get at least 18 mpg as per the EPA? i seem to recall 18 mpg being the magic standard around that time

But yeah, you're probably all correct. The 28' Sovereign Airstream didn't weigh 6,200 lbs (empty) or anything. No sir.

Agreed. I am more of a fan of the 71-76 models, but this '77 is a very nice car and interestingly optioned. It has all options except power seat, power windows and the 3rd row seat.

Here is another pic for people to see without having to click on link. I was on windows 8 before and it would not let me copy the link in the image box.

The interior is amazing for a 1977 model...

The car is actually for sale on ebay:

Chevrolet : Caprice Classic Estate Wagon 4-Door in Chevrolet | eBay Motors

That is a nice car!

I see the bidding is up to almost $1,400.00 with five days to go.

It will be interesting to see how much higher it will go.

Wow. I was hoping for some fun stories like Coldjensen's first reply, but 90% of this thread has become a pissing contest. Too bad.

That Caprice Classic Estate Wagon is gorgeous!
