Your question: Do all older cars leak oil?

My answer: NO.

It depends on how it driven and what type of maintenance is done !!!

You can’t find any factory recommended maintenance to prevent oil leaks. Oil leaks come about because some seal breaks due to old age. When it does, replace it. Problem is the labor cost is often more than you could justify.

We just bought an FJ for my sister-in-law. An 07 4x4 model with 135k miles. Parked it in the driveway last night, not a drop of anything on the ground. Color me impressed.

That doesn't mean there are no leaks. Some leaks never touch the ground. They get all over the engine and burn off.

Some Old cars leak oil, some burn oil but all British cars leak oil!

I had a 1977 MGB for 15 years and it dripped oil.
Funny story. Years ago I worked for a place that cleaned all sorts of equipment and one day my boss asked me to go pick up a clients Bentley. This was a $250,000 car and when I backed it out of its carpeted garage guess what, there was a oil stain. I couldn't help but laugh.

Old or New...they all leak at some point.

Back in 1958 I sold New Plymouths and we had a metal flat pan under the engine in the showroom...Cad dealers did the same on their carpeted showroom floor.

Several days and drives later, still no leaks.

I had two 15 year old cars that didn't leak oil and another for a short time that was over 20 years old and didn't leak oil. None burned or used oil. One('99) had an intake manifold gasket issue, two had radiator problems over time.
All three were GM cars. The '88 was literally falling apart otherwise but the engine and transmission would still be going when the rest of the car disintegrated. The '99 was holding up great all around until it met its end tragically in an accident.
Change your oil and avoid cars with known oil consumption complaints.
