My 76 Maverick has it's original wiper motor and I run 18 inch blades (2 inches longer than stock) and it handles it great. I would hope todays systems are engineered better than mine. You should not have any problem.

I wouldn't bet on that. My impression is that modern engineering is so precise, every tolerance is shaved right to the limit, with no costly allowance for error.
I am surprised that much more blade fits on the window!
I wouldn't worry about the wiper motor. It should be ok.
try it for yourself. next time your shopping for blades, get a tape measure and if its a 20 inch blade, center the 10 inch mark on the plastic clip, if its a 18 inch, then 9 inch, 17 inch= 8.5, etc. After I got the new blades, I dont have the gap of dust that was between the 2 blades, and the top of the surface on the windshield is more wiped. I have a larger viewing area, both on the drivers side and passenger side.
I have a 97 corolla, i think the stock wipers are 19 inches on the drivers side, and 18 inches on the passenger side. I just replaced them with a 26 inch wiper on the drivers side, and a 19 on the passenger side. So far, I love it, it wipes the whole windshield, and both wipers have millimeters to spare before they touch each other, my view is perfect.
Simple question, does this work the windshield motor more? or are windshield wiper motors all universal to a point where and size doesnt matter? I dont want to enjoy the viewing surface then have the motor prematurely die.
Doesn't hurt a thing. I've run larger than stock wipers on almost every car and truck I've owned and it's never hurt a thing. My truck has had a 20 on the drivers side and a 16 on the pass since the fist set I had to replace.
