Whater it is I dont suggest you test it to find out. Just stop at your nearest gas station. That's what that light means.

I know, why don't you drive it till it runs out of gas, then come back and report. But carry some gas in your truck.

A 1960 or older bug had a lever above the gas pedal connected to the gas tank and you would use your shoe toe to move it 90 Degrees to the right and your a go for about 50 miles.

I had one in my tool box from a 1970 conversion of a 60 bug into a dunne buggy...sold it to a guy in Newfoundland Canada about a yr ago...he was happy since they are hard to come by in good shape.

No.... it won't. Your mpg will vary, so the manufacturer cannot tell you specifically how long you can go until E after the light comes on.

I'd stick to it being unwise to try and push it any further than absolutely necessary when that light comes on. But to each his own.

I don't understand this mentality of why people always run their tanks down to E before filling up. I have a buddy who does this chronically. He is always on E and is always frantically trying to find a gas station. He even ran out of gas on one occasion. When he fills up, he only fills his tank 1/4 of the way as if he is saving $ or something. A day or two later, he's back in the same boat. If he just filled his tank completely, and re-filled at 1/4, his life would be much less stressful and he wouldn't be hopping around from one gas station to another every couple of days.

The only time you don't want to fill up is when gas price is going down. It is like buying futures.

Better way to test: fill up right after the light comes on, see how many gallons that is, and compare that to your fuel tank capacity. It comes on at just over 2.5 gallons, but realistically 2 gallons, as the last half gallon might be undriveable sludge.

i don't understand the mentality either of people who wait literally until their vehicle is starving for gas to go to the nearest station. A good friend of mine told me to try always keeping the tank at least 1/4 full. One of the last places I enjoy being at is standing pumping gas in my car. It's so much fun....said noone ever! My car has one of those digital trip displays that tells me how much gas I have left. Usually when the milege drops down to 50, the light comes on. Strange when the number is low, the mileage drops faster. So since then when I realized the pattern, I try to fill the tank before the light comes on

Road trip where you don't want to stop. Or a weekend trip to NY where you don't want to pay NY gas prices, so you want to do there and back in one tank.
