If it were me I would hit the road very early to get ahead of most of the traffic and get a decent parking spot. The last time I was at Daytona by 8AM it took me nearly an hour to go 3 blocks on race day.

Default Orlando and Daytona Race day

I used to live in Orlando also. The best way I went take hwy 50 east to Titusville then US1 north to Daytona then Int. Speedway Blvd.

The one time I did that, we left a 5 am and we had no problem getting in quick, there is plenty to do and see so to me it's worth it.
