Had Gibbs stayed with GM he would be winning at about the same rate as Hendrick does, not very often.
Had Toyota not enticed Gibbs to move from Chevy, TRD probably wouldn't be as far as they have gotten with just BK Motorsports and Furniture Row. Chevy most likely would have still been dominating. With JGR's talent (that is if he would have these current drivers under Chevy), he could have certainly been at HMS level by now. Which would meant more wins for JGR.
TRD needed a big name/pocketed owner willing to take the gamble.
He was winning in Chevy and Pontiacs with a 1 car team.
Toyota's engine program pretty much is JGR's engine program. They bought it. Gibbs got Mark Cronquist from Hendrick when he brought his engine program in house.. Best move he ever made.

Toyota has about 5 wins that are NOT from Gibbs in cup.
Gibbs would have been the #2 or #3 Chevy team. Behind Hendrick and perhaps Stewart-Hass.
The last time RFR was winning races was when they had Edwards and Kenseth.. They've been gone and RFR hasn't won anything since. It's not a problem with Fords, it's a problem with RFR and their driver lineup. Why is it a problem with RFR? Because Edwards and Kenseth went to Gibbs and are winning.. So doesn't that mean it's Toyota? Not really.. Because you have Keselowski and Logano winning fairly consistently in Fords.
You have a short memory, Kenseth left Roush when he was no longer winning blaming it on Favoritism to Edwards. Carl hung on one more year or two and when he saw how Kenseth was winning with Gibbs he went to Gibbs.
Has nothing to do with drivers at RFR it has everything to do with Jack Roush. Still thinks you can win with 1990 setups.
Keselowski and Logano are not winning on speed, they are winning on pit strategy and a little luck.
It's all about TRD (Toyota factory racing ) building more HP than the other guys.
First they dominated trucks, then Exfinity and now Cup. They are just outspending everybody else and they have top tier drivers in every division.
Toyota offered more than Gm and that's why he switched. Toyota didn't just step up they're stepping all over the other brands.

And yet people wonder why the stands are only half full.
The issue with attendance is hotel costs, which are beyond ridiculous at this point. I forget which track it was, but one hotel was charging $699 per night.
