My husband has always been a part of NASCAR--working on their cars--owning a car--watching his dearest friend, a driver, get killed at Riverside...helping to get those "green" boys into good cars with great owners, his own son worked on many of the big time sprint cars and now they don't even take a minute to show they care when he could really use it. Shame on them all! Such a disappointment! I have lost every ounce of respect for the whole organization.
The arrogance, money and politics has been evident for a number of years now. I don't even watch NASCAR and notice it. In fact, I notice it in most American sport. NBL, AFL, NASCAR and NBA. It's exactly why I could never get into it.
This is why I love monster trucks, I have only met one or two drivers that weren't humble and appreciative to the fans. I am sure NASCAR drivers are, I haven't met any was close to meeting Allgaier back in 2009 or so but I imagine that they are humble. Perhaps you just meet them on a bad day or time. I notice that most of the racing community are humble but in particular monster truck drivers.

That is common with many past associations especially when it become has large as NASCAR had s gotten. We hear all the time about football player ;baseball players who were even at the top of the sport being homeless. I can remember JR Richards the rising star of Houston Astros in his day. Then he had physical problems on the pitchers mound. Medical checks show nothing. Some fans even accused him of faking it or drugs. Then he was I diagnosed later of medical problems and found living under a overpass. If he was not at the top likely few fans even know his name as there are thousands of such people in any sport. Sounds like not NASCAR but his former associates unless at top of the field. Police officers for instance rely on their former associates to be recognized and helped not police in general. Best wishes to your husband.

But you love F1
OK
I see what you're getting at, but F1 is totally different. The arrogance isn't nearly as bad. Can't remember the last time i've seen a fight in the paddock. The politics and money aspects are also very different.
