My wife loves shopping at all the cheap import shops and jewlery shops along Harwin St in Houston. For those who don't know, that area of Houston is basically a giant import bazaar. Just wondering if there is anything remotely similar in Austin?

I love Harwin and way overdue for a visit. We have no "wholesalers" or wholesaler strip centers in this area, but we have some duplicates of other Houston inexpensive costume jewelry/luggage/purses/belts etc. here in the Austin area. I was in C.C. at the Domain a few months ago and their jewelry sale rack was unbelievable. Have fun!

If she loves older brooches, lots of bling, etc. then a trip to SoCo (South Congress) is a must to visit Lucy In Disguise

Nope. It is one of the things that makes Houston (4th largest city in the US, enormous port city, and a vast, diverse, global immigrant population) unique!

Lucy's is awesome though but not the same thing.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I've bought nice pieces at 10,000 Villages. They only buy from co-ops so you know people weren't exploited to make or gather material for the items. Some nice stuff. The place is on soco and they have a web site too.

I forgot to add that a portion of Harry Hines Blvd in Dallas is like Harwin. Just FYI in case you find yourself in Dallas anytime soon.

Maybe we should start a quarterly small shuttle rental to Harwin to help our addiction. (In my dreams).

For those who have no clue what we are talking about, search YouTube and/or do a Google aerial map of this address to get your bearings:

9507 Harwin between Gessner and Fondren

Here's a link of a single "mall". The rest is mainly strip centers on both sides of the street for miles:

How often does she go? If it's just every few months, probably just make the trip there since I know of nothing similar here (as far as a big bazaar).
