Hi, I don't know what my budget will be but this is for a party for about 100 people and I'd like to serve appetizers and have a bartender who will make 2-3 special drinks plus pour beer and wine. I don't want to spend a ton of money but don't want to cheap out. I'd also pay for the caterer to have someone stay at the house during the party, warming things up, cleaning up, etc.

Budget is the main factor here. Look up wedding caterers as they cater all types of events. If you're serving apps only and then you want a staff to stay and clean up, that's probably a minimum of $15 a person, probably more if you want better food.

Whole Foods does great catering but I think they just drop the food off and you have to reheat and serve it. http://www.wholecateringaustin.com/menus/Appetizers.pdf

Do you want a TABC certified bartender or someone to just play the bartender role? If you hire someone through a legit bartending service, it can range from $100-200 for the night. Or you can go on Craigslist and find someone looking to do a bartending gig.

we rent tables/chairs from marquee, we try different caterers but I believe we most recently used an affair to remember. Ill check with my wife to see who we get our bartender from. Not sure about prices.

They setup all the food, serve drinks, replenish food, break everything down and cleanup afterwards. When you rent glasses/plates you return them dirty which makes life easy.

For 40-50 people I think we end up spending about 2K for our holiday party which is not a full sit down dinner, just a lot of appetizers. My wife supplements the caterer with some of her own food that our friends really like. Sometimes we might even throw in some cheapy costco prepared stuff.
