We are moving to Austin and my husband will be working downtown near 6th and Lamar. We have 3 kids and need the elementary, middle, and high school to all be good. We would like to spend around 300k. We really aren't sure where the best option is.

We thought about Circle C as the schools seem to be good, but I am worried about getting rezoned in the future as some of the schools near there aren't as good. We have lived in Leander ISD and Allen ISD and have had a lot of experience with rezoning so this makes me nervous. Does rezoning happen a lot in this area?

We were also interested in Dripping Springs. The drive from Ledge Stone seems ok, but are worried about the income restricted apartments that might go in at the entrance. We then thought about Highpointe, but aren't sure if the drive time would get to be to much.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions we would love it. We are excited to move back to Austin, but really don't have a lot of experience on the South end.

Thanks!

School attendance zones change most often in areas where population is changing (usually growth) rapidly and the number of campuses is changing. A school district must use its capacity efficiently. The more stable the neighborhood in general the less likely zones will be changed. I don't know specifically about that area except that eventually AISD will build a new high school in south Austin. But they haven't picked a site yet, nor have they passed a bond to fund the school.

I live in Ledge Stone, and my husband and I commute downtown everyday. I dont think the apartments are going to happen with all of the community against it. Even if they do, considering the area, the likely tenants will be school, hospital and other civic workers. In any event, I highly recommend the area and DSISD has a great reputation!
