I live on the complete opposite side of town from there, but can tell you that it's very pretty there.

You'll have to drive everywhere for everything. There's a couple of small grocery stores, taco bell, dairy queen, a few mediocre restaurants, tractor supply, and soon a Home Depot. You'll at least drive to the "Y" (10-15 minutes) for 90% of your needs. The schools are good but have a small town mentality. If you have a large lot (1 acre +) odds are it's a pretty scenic lot with possibly very impressive views. I personally can't see living out there in a tract house on < 1/4 acre.

Ok....so it is a little ways out?? I am not opposed to that. I like the larger lot, 1 acre would be great! Is this Hill Country?? If not, can anyone tell me what areas or names of housing tract areas are Hill Country?? and what county is that in? We are looking to spend about $450k or less and are looking for 3500 sq. ft +

Thanks

There are some planned communities there...Belterra for one. Based on your comments, I think you would like Dripping Springs.

Generally speaking, the more populated areas of the Hill Country are west of I35 from Georgetown to San Antonio but some places are more "hilly" than others. Here's a good example of a hill country neighborhood in Canyon Lake (closer to San Antonio):

Thanks again!!

Where is there some real shopping, like a mall with a Nordstrom? How far from Dripping Springs, someone said the drive would be like 10-15 minutes to anything....does that mean there is a Target or something along those lines within that distance or a mall?? i read about The Domain?? WHere is that in conjunction with Dripping Springs?

I found Pulte homes in Dripping Springs, they can accomodate the size we are looking for( i think it was them) with reasonable prices. I also did a school search and it showed that Dripping Springs & Eanes were top rated ie: Recognized, the others were Academically Acceptable. What communiteis are in Eanes?? This is a little confusing for me!! Sorry!

Thanks ALL!!

Click on the map link on this website then you can move the map west until you find Dripping Springs. You can also zoom to see neighborhoods around the mall...this would be in Eanes ISD. Mostly the town of Westlake. Have fun! Its a beautiful area : )
