I often wondered who "owned" the Fox theater. I used to wonder if it was owned by Fox TV or News Corp. Because Rupert Murdoch has so soiled that name, do you think it should be changed so that people don't feel like they are supporting Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity when they go there to see a play?

Is this a serious question? The Fox theater was named for William Fox, and was part of his chain of movie theaters beginning in the 1920's.

Fox TV has been around since 1986. Maybe Fox TV should change their name.

Fox News fans presumably wouldn't think the association damaging to the theater.

Fox News detractors are likely sufficiently sophisticated and well informed to be able to cope with the distinctions between Fox News, the Fox Theatre, 20th Century Fox, people with the surname Fox, etc.

If someone were to go on the news to announce that the Fox was going to chance it's name, you should expect a few thousand people showing up to protest it. It won't change.

No.

Fox News or 20th Century Fox never cross my mind when I think of the Fox Theater...

NO. Even if your not from Atlanta you know of the Fox Theatres as they were in many cities and still are in several.

When I used to watch Family Ties, I often wondered if Michael J. Fox was owned by Fox News. He should have changed his name to Michael J. MSNBC.

Love the Fox. Don't feel the same toward Fox News.

LD--
I mentioned your name here--so if you have thoughts--and feel so moved certain the OP would be interested. Writing--I have been inspired to do some, again--these past few days online remind me of when I began as absolute Newbie--naieve and with few technical skills. Some people helped me get started--Ladies of Lallybroch mainly, Judie uses a Mac--the Wizard's Wizard --ran a forum of 1,000 of women--emoting and disagreeing and loving the Outlander series. Ye ken how Scots can be--when the moon is full---the technical problems at that time online were like a plague. Judolf --just rolled with it and settled all the 'Girls' down--passing out treats, kleenexes, wisdom, music and ROFLMAO---trained by ???--inspired by Diana Gabaldon. Best books I have read in quite some time.

Have you read them, LD?
LOL--still waiting for your book on Decatur. Best seller the minute it hit the shelves.

Maybe the Fox Theater should start a marketing campaign to highlight the legacy of William Fox and its place in Atlanta history. If they want they can highlight the events held at the theater than are in contrast to the views of Fox News. I hate even referring them as Fox News, they should change their name to Fox Opinions.

I solidly hate Fox "News" and have never thought for one second they had anything to do with the Fox Theater. As some one has pointed out already, the Fox Theater has been around longer than Rupert Murdoch has been alive. How many people/places can claim that?
