i want to start a thread about all the best places to eat in atlanta. i have only been here a year but have recently ventured out and tried many different restaurants.

Best burgers: the vortex in little five

Best mexican: uncle julio's casa grande...mexican is weird, this restaurant is slightly better than all the other mexi restaurants i have tried (el amigo's, monterrey's, taqueria del sol) but twice as expensive for almost the same food.

Best cheap Italian: georgio's

Taco Mac is good, I guess I would just consider it American?

Thanks for posting this. One of the things my husband and I are looking forward to with the possibility of moving down to this area are great places to eat. We live in a fairly sizeable city, but they pride themselves on chain restaurants. Not that this is bad, but we love to eat at unique and original local places. I have printed your post off so that we can try some of those places. Thanks for the info.

Click the link below for a previous thread with more recommendations. There, we were trying to help someone find a place for his girlfriend's birthday dinner. She didn't like Italian restaurants, though ( !).

I'm loving Ippolita's these days for casual Italian.

I love Houston's, althought it's a chain. The have the best crab cakes and veggie burgers in town! I go to the one by Lenox Mall. Also, if you like cuban food, a little hole in the wall called Papi's on Ponce de Leon.

Highland Tap has a pretty decent burger but don't expect to come out of there not smelling like food.
