Does anyone know of any specific subdivision names in Alpharetta that have a larger concentration of Jews than others. Preferably Swim/Tennis or Golf. We are Jewish and my husband just received a very nice job offer in Suwanee. When we were looking at the area, we seemed to like Alpharetta the best. My husband is worried about the commute though with traffic. We don't want to use a Realtor yet until we are absolutely sure we will make the move. Realtors generally aren't supposed to talk about Religion anyway. Any suggestions?

The commute between Alphraetta to Suwanee would be a nightmare.
And, getting worse by the day.

Yeah, that commute might not be fun. You may want to consider living closer to Toco Hills or Dunwoody. These areas have the largest Jewish communities and it would be a reverse commute for your husband that might not be too bad.

Alpharetta as a whole has a decent Jewish population. But consider BBuch's post...commute to Suwanee is not fun. You may consider going a bit east to Duluth. There are also some very nice neighborhoods as well as synagogues. I suggest calling a few to ask where their members live.

We are cuurrently in Norfolk, Virginia and are looking at moving near Atlanta. I am particularly interested in Duluth. Looks like the schools are excellent, plus Congregation Dor Tamid has Rabbi Ron Herstik. He is the most awesome Rabbi you could imagine. He officiated at my wedding 18 years ago in San Diego. Since he left we have had 3 different Rabbis and even the best pale in comparision. We plan to take a trip there soon. Does anyone have an idea of how many jewish students there are at River Train Middle or Northview High School.

I relocated to Alpharetta GA nine years ago with my family from Brooklyn N.Y. My husband and I have four children. There are many factors to take into consideration. Lifestyle, school district, commuting needs, are just a few things to take into consideration.

Where's 'DarkOne' on this one?

The few Jews that I know actually come from Christian/Jew marriages and either don't attend church or go to the Christian one, but I only know a few.

"..and either don't attend church or go to the Christian one"

Is that church & 'temple'?

Torah, Bible, or tooth fairy, I'll take a secular humanism anytime!

my bad, yeah temple. The men are the jewish ones and the wives are Christian so naturally the women control the faith.
