we are moving to Marietta next week. We need to find cable & internet providers. So far we have found info on Comcast & Turner. Also we will need to have phone service established & garbage pickup. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I recommend Comcast for internet and tv cable. You can get the service together and Comcast internet is extremely fast, the fastest you can get outside a dorm room.

Doesn't the county sanitation department pick up garbage in Marietta?

You must be kidding! This is not a socialist county like Dekalb or such.

Actually, I don't know what the deal is in the City of Marietta per se, but her in unincorporated Cobb County, we have fantastic freedom of free enterprise choice. There's at least a dozen garbage haulers to choose from. My street is visited by garbage trucks every single weekday, since of course I and my neighbors have selected a variety of different providers for this service. We're maximizing use of fuel, noise, wear-and-tear and roads to send a whole bunch of garbage crews around to do a job that could perfectly well be done by one. But hey, gotta love that free enterprise eh?

I use Liberty Disposal, btw.

Its with situations like that you could improve your lot and save money, all it takes is a little collective agreement from a streets residents and finding a willing person to negotiate on your behalf.
Get the street to agree on one provider and neg' the discount for a one street deal.
