Hi,

My family and I will be moving into the City of Decatur this month, and of course we are very excited. We are in the process of preparing everything for our arrival. Can anyone let us know what options are available in that area as far as cable/internet/landline providers are? We have a triple play type package from Verizon where we live. I'm just wondering who the providers are down there and whether they are any good.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

Check out AT&T U-verse. I love their service. Also, check out Comcast and DirecTV.

U-verse and Xfinity are available in my neighborhood in Decatur. Initially, I tried to bring in Direct TV but the contractor could not promise consistently good service because of the profusion of trees so I opted out.

Good point. I totally forgot about the tree coverage in Decatur. Xfinity or U-verse may be the best options.

So the consensus is the AT&T's U-Verse is better than Comcast?

Comcast has the worst customer service on the planet. That being said, Xfinity is way better than u-verse as far as their services go.

If you're just a casual user, I would go u-verse. If you like having high bandwidth and low pings and are a major HD viewer I would go Comcast.

I'm sure you'll hear many different opinions, this one is mine

I like U-verse best! All you need is one DVR and you can watch recorded T.V shows and movies on any of the other televisions in the house (up to four rooms, I believe). You can pause a T.V show in one room and finish it in another (my favorite feature). In addition, you can record up to four T.V shows/movies at once.

How is the internet speed and reliability with U verse? I am moving to decatur and trying to decide btwn comcast and U verse. I have been a cable subscriber for years (1st comcast, now charter). reliability has been great but costs are not.
