In Gwinnett:

Norcross - At Jimmy Carter to Buford Highway Exit 99
Duluth - 30096 Pleasant Hill Road and Gwinnett Place.
Just this weekend there were 4 shootings with one murder at Bahama Breeze alone and two weeks before provided the kidnapping and shootout with Police just 1 mile to the west.
Currently, over 70% of the crime is located along the 85 corridor in the vicinity of Exit 104 heading south to Exit 99.

Things are slowly improving and I do emphasize slowly, but follow Memorial Drive from the city to Lithonia and you will find crime.

It is also not 'very safe'--along Shallowford Rd/Dresden/Chamblee/Doraville in DeKalb County--within range of Jimmy Carter and that area leaves much to be desired.

Parts of Doraville have improved and you can find nice little neighborhoods around Chamblee but the Jimmy Carter area is still 'Rough' serious crime.

On Buford Highway/at Clairmont last week a jewelry store owner was robbed by several gunmen in broad daylight--I generally feel pretty safe in this area/Clairmont Rd/Buford Highway but I am more cautious now. Pays to be 'Street Smart' wherever you are in Atlanta. Lock your car doors, keep valuables out of sight and have an emergency contigency plan---that is a good idea wherever you live. Keep the cell phone handy---law enforcement stays busy. On the other end of Clairmont Rd today--something required 3 DeKalb PD units ---I would like to know what is going on. Many civic groups have websites and post FYI on local crime --that is one way to protect yourself and your property.

Umm...let's refer to this as "the area of unincorporated DeKalb County that is south of the city of Decatur".

.....that has a Decatur zip code, though not in the actual city limits.

Yet, even within the city limits, the southern part of the city has its share of crime.
