My wife and I are relocating to Atlanta and are searching for a smaller working middle class area that has affordable rentals and alot of things to do outdoors. We need an area that is not too far away from the airport, as that is where i will be working and an area that has job opportunity or has busing and has access to marta.

What do you consider affordable? Additionally, I would have a job before moving here.

The south areas of Atlanta South Fulton/Clayton county have lots of section 8 housing if you don't mind living in a crime infested area. I can't think of any local areas within close proximity of the airport worth living in. I say check out Fayette county which is west of Clayton county. You can take I-85 north to the airport for work and it's considerably much safer. Unless you like hunting, dirtbike riding, atv riding, etc. there's not much else to do Outdoors wise.

I'd try using a site similar to this Atlanta Apartments For Rent Atlanta, GA (http://www.rentals.com/Georgia/Atlanta/Apartments-For-Rent.aspx - broken link) and then check on the apartment ratings..

there are many different ways to find out information. I lived in Atlanta 4 years ago and I loved it...

Considering the average price of a 1BR/1BA apartment in Atlanta is in the neighborhood of $750.00 a month (and those are started to fade into higher-priced units), then you may have a hard time. Try a service like promove.com and they may be able to help you out.
