Cleveland-based Sherwin Williams has eyed Atlanta as a possible relocation destination for its headquarters and research and development operations.

“I think the early favorites here, based on everything I heard, is Atlanta, Dallas and Charlotte,” The Boyd Co. principal John Boyd said. Boyd is a noted site selection consultant for private companies, although he is not working directly with Sherwin Williams in its hunt.

Cleveland news sites are reporting that Sherwin-Williams is staying put and coaxed to do so by an incentive package from the state of Ohio.

So, a guy who is not working with, or consulting for, Sherwin Williams has said that his opinion is between these three cities?

I hope they stay in Cleveland. That's not a city I want to see lose a major F500 company. Especially if other cities are trying to poach it.

Sherman Williams bought Duron years ago and took over their operations in Atlanta, so SW has a decent presence already.

I am in agreement with you on this. I’m all for free market capitalism, but Georgia has seen this before with NCR. Cleveland is already struggling as it is, I wouldn’t be happy about gaining it if they could possibly stay put. But of course I’d rather us have it over Dallas if they are adamant about leaving.
