I am seriously considering moving to Midtown on Myrtle st and I have been reading crime reports online. Does anyone know if it would be safe for a single attractive female to live alone there?

No one can tell you whether or not you will be safe or whether or not you will feel safe. Atlanta's a big city and where there are that many people living together there is crime. Certainly there are single women living in Midtown.

You need to spend time in the neighborhood, talk to residents in the area where you are looking, and form your own impressions of the place.

I have friends who live on Myrtle, another on Argonne. None of them are women, but they love Midtown and have lived there for years with no interest in living anywhere else.

IMO as long as you exert reasonable caution with regards to your own safety, you'll be OK. I would be totally OK with living on Myrtle, but my preference would be to stay at 5th St. or above.
I had a friend (female in her 30's) that lived at Penn and 7th (one street over) for years and never encountered any trouble.
