On our way home from the airport up to alpharetta this evening (after spending 6 hours at the airport I had to come back home because my flight was cancelled - urg) my kids who had never seen the skyline (we've only been here a few months) asked what " those skyscrapers with the pointy lit up roofs were" - I think there are several in the Buckhead area???...I mean they look like something out of the Lord of the Rings...especially in the clouds/rain...any names for these buildings? Sorry if I'm not real specific...the architecture was beautiful.

i know we're not supposed to converse in this thread, but just thought i'd point out that it sounds like you're talking about the midtown skyline. and yes, atlanta truly has the most beautiful architecture in the south

After reading the crude-yet-valid Kunstler criticism of downtown in the "Urban planning commentator gives photo tour of downtown Atlanta, and boy do we look like crap!" thread, I thought I'd post some of my favorite street-level photos that I've taken downtown to show that it isn't all prison-like fortifications and blank walls.

Well, OK -- there's a blank wall. But it's a pretty wall.

it's been since 2008 since I posted those, but I live inside Atlanta. Not the burbs of Atlanta. And I actually just had another dear in my new yard over in East Atlanta just a few weeks ago. Amazing.
