The State of Georgia has been pathetic in nearly all of it's efforts in the last several years as regards the cityhood movement & annexation/de-annexation efforts.
Whether it be the various moves made by the legislature or of elected high up or local public officials, the heavy hand of government interference seems to hold sway in our state at this time.
It's beyond time for an electoral general house-cleaning to sweep the elected officials who keep on promulgating these messes out of office!

Exactly, I have a short list of individuals that do this like Roger Bruce. He is the main sh*t started that kept pushing this idiocy.

Bump: The constitutional amendment that prohibited annexation of the FIB corridor was repealed last night.

Great, so now the area will either be annexed into the city of Atlanta, internationally known and established over 170 years ago, or the "city" of South Fulton which is like a year old random suburban area, with no character or identity or sense of place as a city at all other than being vaguely in the south portion of Fulton County (and oh-so-creatively named as such), and with a boundaries map that looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.

South Fulton is a total joke.

South Fulton is a total joke.

Tensions on the South Fulton City Council burst into public view at a meeting Tuesday night, when one city councilwoman called in police after she accused another of threatening her with a Taser.

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...nnexation.html

Atlanta can annex its portion owned within the Fulton Industrial Boulevard district. This means South Fulton won't be able to steal the whole district because approximately 50% of the properties are owned by entities including the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Board of Education, other city and/or jointly owned entities.

This is great news for CoA and will allow them to annex much needed commercial tax base into the city.
