I’ve posted on her before with a similar question and I’m posting again because I really need to make a decision. I’m buying a home in South Fulton County in a new subdivision off of Scarborough Rd. The subdivision is pretty nice and it has cameras around. Its at a dead end road. I’m just a little leary because I hear such bad things about the crime rate in South Fulton(not that subdivision). I don’t care about the schools. I know they are horrible but I don’t have kids. My main concern is SAFETY. I don’t want to live somewhere where I’ll be scare to go to sleep at night. I am also looking at a home in Rex but I hear the crime is not much better there and the area just looks cheap and run down to me. I CANNOT afford to live anywhere north of the city. I really LOVE the home in South Fulton but I don’t want my love for the home to cloud my judgement. Just looking for any advice or experiences? If I don’t go with the home in South Fulton I’ll probably lose my earnest money. That’s my dilemma. However, my safety and peace of mind is worth more than the money.

I live in South Fulton off of Roosevelt (about a mile or two from Parkway Villages). There have been minor break ins when our subdivision was new but nothing lately and we've had better police presence. You'll be living in Union City so police response time might be a little long since the neighborhood is so far from Downtown Union City, but South Fulton Pkwy is an upscale area so I wouldn't worry too much. Just use common sense like not leaving valuables in your car and you'll be okay. If you did have kids, Westlake is actually a pretty good high school and is comparable to those in North Fulton.
