I plan on going back and searching the forum for past threads...

What's it like? Is it a nice town to live with a family? Schools? Anyone live or work there? How's the shopping, restaurants, etc? Anything to avoid?

Watch the Gangland episode about DeKalb and Gwinnett counties. It focuses on Tucker.

Ack... Even without watching I think this does not bode well. Ok, next!!!!!! lol I only mentioned Tucker because there may or maynot be a potential job situtation in that town.

Nots, saying the whole area is like that. I've known people who grew up there and their good people. Its not an incorporated city, policed by DeKalb county police. Northlake mall and retail area is located at 285 & Lavista rd.

Any better areas that are nearby? I have a brother in Alpharetta so that might be a possibility.

What's your price range? The commute from Alpharetta to Tucker will be unbearable. North Druid Hills, Decatur, Druid Hills.

Price range I'm unsure about, but under 400k. Our current home was about $395k. 4 beds/2.5 baths.

I don't like Tucker. But that's personal taste. My reason for not liking it is it's quite old looking. I don't mean it's 1800s beautiful, I mean it looks like everything was built in the 60s and 70s. I haven't been there for a really long time, so maybe they have updated it by now, I don't know.

I know a lot of people who live in Tucker try to stretch it and say they live in Decatur or "over by Decatur" when really they live in Tucker.

I looked over North Druid Hills or 30329 on realtor.com and wasn't thrilled with what I saw in our price range.

You can afford way better than Tucker for close to $400k.

Tucker is for people who want decent houses close to town for under $200k.
