I have now relocated to Tucker GA from rural Smyrna area and I must say I am already enjoying my immediate access to 285 for both work and pleasure. Can anyone tell me some of the do's and don't about the Tucker area? Just FYI ... I've already checked out the area in terms or median income and other statistical facts, just want to know is Tucker really Atlanta's best kept secret.

Not sure what you are calling rural Smyrna? How is Tucker any closer to I-285 other than being on the east side of Atlanta vs. the west side of Atlanta

I lived outside city limits of Smyrna, which we called "the county." That's what I meant when referring the rural. Secondly, where I reside at now in Tucker it takes less than 2 mins to get to 285 ... opposed to 15 when I stayed in Cobb Cty

Since the City of Smyrna borders 285, and since Cobb itself exists on both sides of 285 (both ITP and OTP), I can only assume you lived somewhere else in Cobb. Should have lived closer to the freeway.

I am glad for you that you have shortened your commute.

But just for a point of reference, the farthest distance from I-285 to the Smyrna City limits would be straight up South Cobb Drive to Pat Mell and that is a total of 6.25 miles. An elite runner can make this in under 30 minutes

I just laugh at your use of the term "rural".

I don't have as much to say on the *Don'ts* for Tucker, but . . .

DO check out their town square area, particularly for one of the events/festivals that crop up every once in a while. Luckily, Tucker has its own "Patch" online newspaper that will have some info for you: Tucker, GA Patch - News, Sports, Events, Businesses & Deals

DO check out an Atlanta institution there, Grecian Gyro, particularly if you like gyros and other Greek food:

Grecian Gyro Atlanta GA

Funny--I think Tucker and Smyrna/Mableton are some of Metro Atlanta's best kept secrets.

There is nothing rural about Smyrna or Mableton. As I have stated before, you really don't know what you're talking about, considering that sheer number of people living in that area.

You want rural? A place like Rockmart or Cedartown will fulfill that definition.
