The new owners should move the whole kit and caboodle down here and rename the trading floor something like "the Peach Pit" or "the Georgia World Stock Pickin' Barn."

I like it! Its about time Atlanta asserts it's dominance through our superior vernacular.

Yes yes... If they build something iconic for trading derivatives, stocks, etc. and brand it with some Atlanta or Georgia history it would do wonders for this city's image.

New Jersey pension fund sues NYSE Euronext over ICE deal - Yahoo! Finance

I never could understand why the NYSE necessarily wanted to be acquired. I recall when the news broke out, people were surprised at the low price tag.

Well the brand of NYSE is just about second to none, but its real power has been on a downhill trajectory for years and there is unlikely to be a reversal of that trend. Electronic trading has opened up many more trading platforms connecting sellers and buyers at lower prices and operating much faster. Sadly, that is probably why Atlanta won't have a trading floor open up. In a sense we've always had one through companies like ICE, but they exist in data centers and electronic platforms.

The main thing keeping NYSE -trading floor- open is its brand, historical significance, and prestige it brings the company.... which can largely handle most digital transactions away from a trading floor.

I read several various stories on this in different places. The basic gist seemed to be the most valuable property apart of NYSE Euronext is actually a property in London, not the NYSE. However, ICE + NYSE Euronext as one will make it the 2nd largest trading company in the world.

NOT.....think its time to come into the future.....googles=peach poogles, facebook=peachbook....doesn't sound right, sorry

there is a reason New York and California homes are soooo expensive

And who cares if New Yorkers don't want to move here(if they need a job they will)...more jobs for the people that already live here...
