Can anyone tell me about the Camp Creek area? I'm going to be looking for an apartment/condo to rent in the Atlanta area, and I found a listing for a townhouse in the Camp Creek area that looks like a great deal. I'm looked at the crime in the area on SpotCrime.com, and there doesn't seem to be much in the immediate vicinity, but I don't know much about the area. Since I'm living on the other side of the country right now, I don't really have any way to get to know the areas in which I'm interested, and I'll only be in Atlanta for 2 days when I come to look at places.

Campcreek is not very bad at all, the southern side of campcreek is covered by trees and further up you have decent sized marketplace. Also about 10 min drive to downtown, a couple of exits down it can kind of dangerous and may be a bit scary if you arent used to crime. North of campcreek you have cascade which is nice area w/ beautiful homes. You will be ok on campcreek just dont venture off to old national or bankhead

The place in which I'm interested is in a gated townhouse community (Highwood Park) south of Camp Creek, close to where Washington Road intersects with 285. Is that getting too close to the bad section?

There is some poverty down that way, but people seem to mind their own. On Washington Rd You have people hanging out in front of gas stations(this is spotty, no biggie), but east point pd patrols those places at night. I think you will be ok where you are located... There is a subdivision called Laurel Park that appears to be in tact too. The southside is ok, just nothing down there like you see intown and northern burbs. Be sure to bring a reliable car. I will keep an eye out for highwood park tmw and tell you what I think.

Isn't a lot of that area right in the flight path of Hartsfield?

I hope you like airplanes.

Most flights follow Camp Creek or South Fulton Parkway so they will be sandwich in between so they may or may not have any airplane noise...

It would be close I think regarding the flight path. The planes taking off and landing on the runway on the south side of the airport fly south of camp creek. the planes taking off and landing on the runway on the north side of the airport are the ones that fly right over Camp Creek.
