I like Atlanta, but I am quite concerned with its crime rate. Do you feel safe in Atlanta?

I live in the Buckhead/Brookhaven area of Atlanta and have never felt unsafe.

As long as you stay away from certain areas and be cautious everywhere else...

What happen to the police precinct and holding cell they were going to put on Boulevard? What is the timeline for that? Or, did it get derailed?

I feel totally safe where I live. And where I go in Atlanta.

If I followed the "just walk with confidence" advice here and wandered into the Bluffs, I'd probably feel unsafe. I tend to know where I'm going and avoid unsafe areas, and so far, it hasn't made me miss anything worth doing.

Apparently the Home Park area beside Georgia Tech is unsafe. There were three recent incidents. You'd think Georgia Tech with all its technology could monitor the area. After all, it is an important housing area for its students.

Another problem is being on the street using your smart phone. There are phone snatchers.

That may be true, and I'm not trying to say that we shouldn't try to make the area more safe.

What I will say, though, is that most people in metro Atlanta don't have much of a reason to go there, so crime there can be bad without making the normal everyday citizen feel unsafe.

I don't know what you mean by "Atlanta". Are you referring to the City of Atlanta?
