It's terrible for the children. The authorities should intervene, like yesterday.

As for the adults who are voluntarily participating in this conduct, and obviously having a great time doing so, well....

DAMON RUSSELL, “SNOW ON THA BLUFF” | Filmmaker Magazine

Quote:
Filmmaker: What was it like working for him? You’re shooting in these incredibly depressed neighborhoods. I imagine you’re staging a lot of things that had happened in his actual life?

Russell: It was a very practical process. I met with him, would hang out down there, and I’d meet his friends. I got to know all of them before I even shot a frame with [Snow]. Once that trust was there, then we started bringing out the camera. There wasn’t any real direction at first. I was just filming whatever was around that would happen. We’d be standing around and an ambulance would pass by. So we’d follow them and just start filming whatever was going on in the neighborhood. Then, as things progressed, we started to come up with a story. I had this footage already that I wanted to incorporate so I tried to make that fit into the story. It was kind of like filming a documentary, where it would take forever. But then we had the luxary every now and again of saying, “Let’s go shoot a scene like this,”

that blight isn't close to intown neighbourhoods, it's there. "the bluff" is not even a half mile from georgia tech. take (actually don't, but for demonstration purposes) north avenue starting at the varsity and go west. there will be several points where the street tries to direct you to the right or left, but just continue straight on north. it's designed to be pretty difficult to continue straight on so no one gets there by accident. when you cross northside drive, north avenue turns into a two lane road and you're there.

Sounds like kind of a voyeurism to me. "I'll just go hang out with this guy doing a drug deal for a little while and then came back home and tell everyone how exciting it was."

"Snow on tha Bluff" is currently on Netflix.

Having now seen it, it's evident that the film is a combination of "real life" and staged events, although that doesn't really detract from the overall impact.

Not a happy story.

Its been talked about a lot. I thought the movie was ok. A lot of knucklehead stuff. The truest part is well to do suburban white kids stopping by for drugs, but most of them would never get robbed. Robbing white drug users from the perfect societies of America would be stupid. They dont want to mess up that pipeline of easy money.
