Looking for a nicer apartment complex, maybe with a walking trail of some sort or a lake view or just any outdoor recreation, with a gated entry or in apartment security system. Any suggestions? Because every apartment complex I have looked at online looks great until I go on apartmentratings.com and see a 22% approval rating. Help please?!

I want to live somewhere a little quieter. I know that's scarce being that it's a big city, but I'm a small town girl so I don't want the transition to be a complete culture shock. My fiancee is going through the apd hiring process right now, so if he gets hired I want to be prepared to up and move asap so I'm just trying to feel out the area right now. We are in our mid 20's, but we are not fans of the "night scene" as most people our age, like I said I am a small town girl, and he's a small town kinda guy. But we want to live within the Atlanta city limits for sure. Any advice would be wonderful : )

It sounds like you might be better off looking in Vinings, just north of the city. Plenty of apartments there.

Trust me, I have looked outside of Atlanta and thought about moving there, but like I said my fiancee is going through hiring for apd and they have the housing incentive program for officers living within city limits. I have also looked at Marietta because I have head some nice things about that, but at least for a year until we really get on our feet and settled financially, we are going to have to stay within the city limits. We're pretty much looking for as much safety within the city as we can.

I have found beautiful apartments until I read the reviews that they have section 8 tenants as well as drug dealing, late night domestic abuse, extensive theft and break ins, etc. I'm a little nervous so any information or advice on this city would be helpful as well. Thank you! : )

The places around Perimeter Center/North Atlanta are nice, even though it was technically Dunwoody I had an Atlanta address, not sure how specific they will be with you.

But those gates wouldn't keep anything out, in fact ours were struck by lightning and stayed open for several months.

I used to live there and I liked it.

Great location inside the perimeter, right beside the YMCA. The management team was pleasant, and any maintenance issues were dealt with quickly and to my satisfaction. I appreciated the fact that my unit did not have a balcony, but rather a 'sunroom', which was almost like a 3rd bedroom / den (I rented a 2 bed / 2 bath unit). The rent was very reasonable too for the size of the apartment.

The only negative on the location is that there is alot of traffic along Ashford Dunwoody Rd in the afternoon, due to the number of schools (public and private) in the area as well as the soccer / baseball fields. But that didn't deter me, I eventually bought a house in the surrounding area.
