CSX and MARTA rail lines. When it was built, ERD did not exist and L5P was nowhere near the bustle it is now.

If you're referring to the underpass, was there a reasonable alternative? Would it have been better for ambulances and firetrucks to have to wait for trains? Is there a MARTA crossing at grade anywhere in the entire system?

We could fill that gap relatively easy if we wanted. Close one side of the "off-ramps" connecting to DeKalb Ave, put a stoplight at the downsized intersection and sell that land off to developers. With that and the development of the Sherwin-Williams parking lot you shrink a 1,150ft pedestrian gap to a 150ft Krog style tunnel.

ABC proposed using the eastern ramp as a bike/ped connection from DeKalb Ave Complete St to Moreland Ave bike lanes and sidewalks.

So what happens when a fire truck from station 12 needs to go extinguish Corner Tavern again?

The west side ramps will have a signal at Moreland or use McLendon.

Yeah, thought I had already seen closing one side of the ramps proposed elsewhere. I'd say it would be better pedestrian / bike experience redeveloping it as an extension of Lil'5 and operating more shared facilities of the remaining connection, but giving back roadway to private land owners seems to be a very rare thing despite how much is taken over the years often against the will of the land owners.

They can ride a tandem bike and strap their equipment on the back seat.

It will be a better configuration for drivers too. Those two stoplights next to each other on DeKalb is bad.

One of these days I'll have time to stop there... every Atlanta visit is usually in a rush, the drive up and back is easily a 300 mile round trip.
