Neither would I. Actually, I wouldn't have gone to that location in the first place, but wouldn't you agree that there's a world of difference between not going back to the scene of a crime and running back to the hotel to hide until his scheduled departure? There's some middle ground in there, don't you think?

Yes, there is, and I suspect I'd be out and about again (and a lot more cautious) right away. He had his bag open enough so someone could see his DVDs? WTF? But you know, having something taken from you in broad daylight like that would be something of a shock.

I probably would have ended up damaging the homeless guy if he tried to take something from me, tho, but I may also be large enough to not be accosted in that manner. Not by a little stringy guy.

I hear what you're saying, rc, but in all fairness to the guy I see people sitting around in coffee shops all the time with their laptops, cell phones and other items laying on the table and it's not unusual for them to have some sort of bag sitting nearby. Most of us don't expect to get ripped off.

True. But most of those people also have the sense not to do that anywhere near 5 Points.

Maybe as a tourist this guy didn't realize Five Points is a little different.

Street sense is street sense, no matter what language. If he couldn't tell 5 Points might not be the ideal place for a quick lunch then I doubt he has any.
