I'm sure Whitaker Point has been shared many times on here already, but I finally made a trip up there this weekend, so here's my picture.

Each summer we are over-run by Canadian Geese and they poop all over the place. Thankfully they leave each fall but this past fall/winter a pair stayed over, nested, and had this gaggle of goslings. The first photo here couldn't have been better if it had been posed. They were feeding on the other side of the pond but came to me for their treats when they saw me walking down the trail. In the first photo they had just come across the pond and were coming up the near bank. In photography, quite often the accidental photo is better than any planned or posed.

These are Muscovy ducks. The black one with the red face and white spot on the neck is a male, the white head is a female, and the solid black is a juvenile female and I think belongs to white head. The male has been hanging around our pond, alone, for a couple years and roosting at night on a rock out in the middle of the pond. Then early this spring the two females started flying in, hanging out with the male most of the day, then flying off. The male never tried to fly with them. Then about a month ago the females never flew away and have been here hanging out with the male ever since. I was hoping they would nest and hatch ducklings, but it never happened.
