In addition to the Mt. Magazine Lodge photo I posted yesterday, here is a photo of the associated cabins along the side of the mountain east of the Lodge.

Default Know your picnic grounds?

Just back from a visit to LR and Hot Springs, was fun to revisit a few places and see family. One place we could not place was a picnic ground that we was at in 1974 and was wondering if anyone can recall where the picture here was taken. Debating that it's either Gulpher Gorge or Boyle Park.

The Keep America Beautiful sign was what we were looking for - now guessing that it may be gone.

Thanks - it was a great time visiting.

This is correct. I just went up there and talked to the attendant. The temporary gift shop and registration office is open, as is the train depot and camp grounds. Here are some pics I took of Queen Wilhelmina Lodge about an hour ago of the progress of the constuction. I'm working with a very old browser so all I can post is these thumbnails, sorry.
Compare these with the pics that I posted in #361 in this thread.

Thanks for the Wilhelmina photos slingshot. We appreciate that. But I really, really, really hate to see that they removed the original porch which gave it it's unique character. Now it is only another commercial "box" on top of the mountain.

I know you're right but I'm gonna wait to see the finished product. The old school charm has seemed to have disappeared. I hope we're wrong and someone will come in and replace the old rock porch and steps.

T.DarcyJones that ledge you were standing on at Mt. Magazine is pretty neat, It gives me mild vertigo sometimes because of the way it drops off suddenly and not being able to see the ground.
The overlook park in Ozark and the view from Saint Marys in Altus are good ones too, maybe I'll take pictures sometime.
