Cloudy weather, especially rainy weather, makes the mountains in Arkansas sort of magical. The mists rise from the valleys, the water is dripping off all the leaves, the streams start rushing and making their music, and the cloud cover mitigates the harsh sunlight, making all the greens really pop out.

Hope to make it there in October, but it's still iffy right now. *sigh*
Mt. Nebo was a bit north of our route home, but we did pass right by Mt. Magazine on hwy. 10, which was cool. Wanted to take 309 up onto the mountian, but this particular trip was very spur of the moment, and we had to hot foot it back to TX so I could be at work that night. Always willing to leave stuff to do for next time, though!

That view from Petit Jean stays with you. As usual, the pics just could not do it justice. Have to say it's probably my favorite spot I've found in AR thus far.....

....until our next trip over when we find yet another gem in The Natural State, no doubt!

A random black bear walking in our front yard today. It was a large bear too. I took several pics but here are two of them.

Very cool view. I wonder what my city born and raised lab would think of that oversized dog...

With the rivers flowing, all of the waterfalls are at full force. We took the 25 minute ride to Falling Water waterfalls in Ben Hur today and it did not disappoint.
