You support hiring teachers to TEACH IN SPANISH and then firing them because they have a Spanish Accent?

With a couple of mnor exceptions, in Arizona, all instruction must be done in ENGLISH. Instruction must be in Englsih.

HOW CAN ANYONE HONESTLY NOT UNDERSTAND THAT ?? ..

I think the majority of people who say they don't see it as a problem are simply lying, and taking the other side for other reasons.. And the few who actually DON'T see that it could be a problem for the students, are out of touch with reality..

You can say that you can see the problem .. but think considerations other than the student being able to learn are more important.. ( A truly undefendable position, but at least an honest one )... But to say you don't understand that not being able to consistently understand your teacher is not only a problem, but a serious obstacle to learning .. is just lacking in ALL credibility.. If you can turn on your computer, and find your way to this site, then you are functionally aware enough to understand that being able for a student to CONSISTENTLY understand their instructor is not only a GOOD thing ... its VITAL. ...... GOOD GRIEF !!!

And to ponderosa ... Unless I decide to take an elective about "Modern Culture in Beijing", having a foreign teacher ISN'T a part of the college experience.. The college experience is about choosing my field of interest and taking appropriate courses, and LEARNING those courses.. IT IS NOT about DIVERSITY exposure, and struggling through an history course because I can't understand my instructor's english.. Those with a craving for diversity can spend their summers in another country.. My diversity exposure will come when I graduate.. Should I end up with a job that takes me to another culture, I'll trust my RESPECT for the cultures of other countries, and my COMMON SENSE on how to behave, to get me through.. ( A respect that used to be great as a child, but that I now find waning after having diversity CONSTANTLY shoved down my throat ).. Until that time, I'm MORE CONCERNED with my instructor's ability to speak consistently understandable english, than I am with my ability to speak mandarin..

And teachers will not be fired for having a slight accent, or for pronouncing an occasional word differently.. Once again, common sense will weed out the problem teachers.. The standards should be VERY tough for teachers of elementary school children, as they are just learning english themselves.. And any close calls should ALWAYS go to the students' needs, not the teachers'.

you should have dropped your class or took a withdrawl from it, its probably to late now. I would also write the dean about it. this law should be in every state.
