I don't care about abortion but doesn't this place the government between the Doctor and the Patient?

IMHO, if I, as a parent, are responsible for my child, I should, at the very least, be notified when MY CHILD is going through ANY medical procedure - don't you agree?

I mean, my child cannot take an aspirin without my knowledge and consent.

Yet, and up to now, my child could have an abortion without me even knowing about it

This law corrects that major deficiency.

i agree with you here, i feel it is the parents right to know if their child is getting an abortion or any medical procedure.

One of the single, most disgusting sentences ever placed into law. Arizona took a deep dive today in my book. What a joke of a law - and all because of that sentence. Disgusting.

Afterall, there are more than 400,ooo American children in CSB-adoption systems waiting for kind, loving parents and will only grow up in the system not to see that happen.

As overpopulated as the world is, as overpopulated and unloved children are in the U.S. of all places, I don't think it necessary to bring MORE unwanted children into the world simply because you believe that a zygote has a soul.

Normally I agree with you on this subject...........

Although I have known several women who were raped by their 'fathers' and/or other male relatives when they were minors. If said females go pregnant, they sure as hell cannot turn to their families for help so in a situation like that, they should be able to get an abortion---------no questions asked.

Why is it "disgusting"? Other states have already enacted similar provisions.

The law is NOT requiring "Permission".

The Law IS requiring that the parent or guardian be notified of the impending abortion.

And, in the situation you raised - the young woman can notify CPS - the Father should be arrested.

If men were forced to give birth, they would sing a different tune about controlling women's bodies.

seriously - do you even bother to look at the law before you speak

i know my last post was a little long and all, so let me be more to the point

jaada, since you mentioned it as well please also take note

There is already a law on the books that state that under most circumstances the parents/legal guardians/custodians of a minor must provide written consent unless the child is impregnated by said relative (in which case they must state that and the doctor must perform a rape kit to preserve any evidence and notify the proper authority)

this law exists

the current legislation has nothing to do with notifying the parents of an unemancipated minor

the parents already have to be notified ....... they even have to provide consent

this is under existing law that was on the books prior to this bill

so this law does really nothing except provide further scope and circumstance to that existing language

hence, to support this legislation because it mandates notification is really weak and shows a complete lack of understanding

because existing law mandates written authority

So far on this thread: not one word about personal (sexual) responsibilty. Only how to conveniently clean up the "mistakes" and "messes" with as little personal involvement as possible.

Ain't the "it's all about 'me'" generations wunnerful?
