State lawmakers on Wednesday approved legislation that would impose a string of new restrictions on women and minors seeking an abortion, as well as allow Arizona pharmacists to refuse to dispense emergency contraception on moral grounds.

On a pair of near party-line 36-19 and 37-19 votes, House Republicans pushed through the bills that outlaw a controversial form of late-term abortion and establish additional abortion regulations. Advocates, almost all Republicans, said the measures would help ensure that women contemplating an abortion make an informed decision

They're turning a woman's choice into a government run program by passing this ridiculous bill. First of all, no matter how many regulations, controls, or bans you place on abortion, it will NOT stop abortion. The same can be said for drugs, guns, pornography, and other "sins" of society. Second, the idea of a pharmacist being able to refuse to dispense contraception based on "morals" really pisses me off! If there are pharmacies that refuse certain pharmaceuticals, the only effective answer would be a boycott!

Seems pretty asinine that they were in such a hurry to place restrictions on abortion when there are more pressing issues to take care of ... such as the budget problems. If the Legislature wants to control or ban anything, go after the speed cameras. There was supposed to be legislation pending which would get rid of those idiotic cameras ... so what happened???
