Which one do you like better and why? I know it's not exactly apples to apples but just share your opinion on any aspect of Prescott vs Payson.

Prescott: more "upscale" like as in better shopping, places to eat and so on.

Payson: more "old school cowboy".

Both places are Ok IMHO

Similar climates but Prescott is a much larger metro area so it has all the amenities and shopping so you never have to drive elsewhere for that.

Payson seems like a boring place to live. Prescott has a cute little city core and decent amenities which Payson does not have.

Gosh, I like them both, but I don't think I can afford to live in either one. Prescott definitely has a very nice downtown vibe. Payson seems like more of a strip place.

Payson is on the Rim, so you can drive into miles of forest, all the way to the White Mtns. Prescott is more of a forest island; It doesn't take long to get out of the pines and into scrub oak. Although I do love the Bradshaw mtns!

I think Payson is actually closer to the valley, if you care about that. I-17 has become a bloody nightmare on the weekends (don't really know though, the Beeline could be the same way).

I like them both!

I live in the Prescott area but considered Payson when we moved from the SE corner of the state.
I found that there were few doctors and hospital facilities in Payson that were available and as a retiree I have found myself needing both more frequently.
It's also a longer drive to shopping where the Prescott area had almost anything you can want.

Payson is a three road town on the way to Pinetop and Sunrise.

Prescott is pretty impressive.

Payson itself is not much of a destination, though the surrounding forest is, for camping, etc., and just to get out of the really high heat in the summer. Prescott is a destination in itself.

This is why I voted Payson.
