The price point can be argued both ways though.

At 4% interest, a 30-year, 250K home loan would have a payment of just under $1200 per month.
A $325k mortgage on those same terms would cost about $1550 per month.

It's very easy to squander that extra $350 per month(and then some) if it's necessary to travel for certain amenities on a regular basis. One should definitely consider job opportunities, cost of groceries, personal circumstances, and lots of other factors in addition to the cost of a home.
